  1. Q:  To what extent has he influenced the media 
  2. ecology programme?

  4. A:  A great deal. Well, first of all I should tell you 
  5. that he is directly, in a way, responsible for the 
  6. media ecology programme because he and I had a 
  7. conversation once and he said that he didn‚Äôt think 
  8. he had the temperament or the desire to form a 
  9. graduate programme with all of the bureaucratic 
  10. elements that would entail, at the University of 
  11. Toronto, but he thought I should do it. So he 
  12. suggested that we try to develop a grad 
  13. programme at NYU that would explore these 
  14. probes, he even suggested the term media ecology.
